OUR STORY
Rooted in Halifax, Built for the Future
CDR Law is a family law firm with deep roots in Halifax and a clear focus on the future of legal practice. Our legacy is built on decades of experience, respected leadership, and a shared vision: to deliver exceptional family law services grounded in innovation and integrity.
A Legacy of Excellence
Our foundation is the result of a strategic merger of several respected legal practices, each with its own proud history in Nova Scotia:
Sealy Cornish Coulthard, known for its people-focused legal work, brought a family law team led by Julia E. Cornish, K.C., a trailblazer in the field with over 30 years of experience. Julia continues to serve as Senior Counsel at CDR Law, helping guide the firm’s approach to principled, pragmatic advocacy.
Crowe Dillon Robinson, founded in 1972, contributed decades of legal infrastructure and Halifax presence.
Conrad Connors Law, founded in 2018 by Matt Conrad.
Matt infused the firm with a modern, tech-forward ethos. Frustrated by the inefficiencies of traditional legal environments, Matt built the firm around smart workflows, client-focused systems, and a commitment to innovation. He was joined by Yvonne R. LaHaye, K.C., one of Nova Scotia’s most accomplished family lawyers, known for her work with high-net-worth and complex matters. Today, Yvonne is a cornerstone of our practice.
Built for What Comes Next
Today, our team brings together over 100 years of combined family law experience, backed by a dedicated legal technology advisor, in-house training, and a culture of constant improvement. We handle the full range of family law matters—from parenting and marital property disputes to child protection, surrogacy, fertility, and adoption.
Clients come to us because they want clarity. They stay with us because we deliver it.
